Tour Plan

Board the Ahmedabad to Agra 8:00 AM flight on your own – you will have been provided the flight tickets prior to this. You are greeted on arrival at the Agra airport and driven to your hotel and assisted with your check in.

Late afternoon: A sunset visit to the magnificent white marble mausoleum, one of the world’s seven wonders, the Taj Mahal, is a must-do experience for tourists worldwide. This exquisite monument, dedicated to the enduring love of Shah Jahan and his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, attracts visitors from distant corners of the globe year-round. Constructed between 1653 and 1675 AD, the Taj Mahal required the labor of 22,000 skilled craftsmen over a period of 22 years. The white marble is intricately inlaid with semi-precious stones in captivating patterns, a technique known as pietra dura. The symmetrical design of the Taj is further enhanced by minarets at each corner. The basement of the Taj houses the cenotaphs of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, serving as a testament to their enduring legacy.

Following breakfast, embark on a journey to Fatehpur Sikri, an awe-inspiring yet deserted fortified city constructed by Emperor Akbar in the late 16th century. Serving as the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1571 to 1585, Fatehpur Sikri, aptly referred to as the ‘perfect city,’ faced challenges due to water scarcity and ultimately fell into disrepair after the passing of Emperor Akbar.

From here you will proceed to the nearby Agra Bear Sanctuary, which is the world’s largest bear rescue center. It is run by SOS, one of India’s premier NGO’s.

After lunch continue your exploration with a tour of Sikandra, the location of the tomb of Akbar, India's greatest Mughal Emperor. The tomb of Akbar the Great is an important Mughal architectural masterpiece built in the 16th century. Akbar himself planned his own tomb and selected the site for it. He started the construction and, after his death, his son Jahangir completed the construction in 1613. The impressive tomb is a fascinating architectural achievement and the great gateway to the monument has a large number of inlaid patterns that are timeless in their beauty.

Drive back to the city and enjoy a visit to the massive red sandstone Agra Fort which was built by the famous Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565 AD, primarily as a military structure. During Shah Jahan’s reign it was converted into a palace. It finally became a prison for Shah Jahan after his son came to power in 1658. The fort has numerous courtyards, private chambers and a marble mosque. From the Agra Fort you will be driven back to your hotel.

Visit Mehtab Bagh, a 500-year-old Mughal garden situated opposite the Taj Mahal on the other side of the Yamuna River. Enjoy a sunrise view of the Taj Mahal from this picturesque garden.

On the opposite bank of the Yamuna River lies the exquisite Itmad-ud-daulah, constructed in 1628 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s queen, Nur Jahan, in memory of her father. This remarkable tomb stands as the first monument to be entirely constructed of marble inlaid with Pietra Dura.

After your visit, return to your hotel for breakfast.
Check out of your hotel by noon and proceed to Agra airport to board your afternoon flight to Ahmedabad.
